Age Check
Verify applicant age using applicant-provided data, ID document data, or selfie-based age estimation.
Age Check lets you verify whether an applicant meets an age requirement using applicant-provided data, extracted ID document data, or an estimated age from a selfie image.
How Age Check works
Age Check can run against one or more age signals depending on how your verification flow is configured:
Use the date of birth or age value submitted by the applicant during the onboarding flow.
Use the date of birth extracted from the applicant’s identity document.
Estimate the applicant’s age from their selfie image when selfie-based age estimation is enabled.
Age Check sources
| Source | Input used | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Applicant-provided data | Date of birth or age submitted by the applicant | Use this when you collect age information directly from the applicant. |
| ID document data | Date of birth extracted from an identity document | Use this when the flow includes document verification and you want the age check to rely on document data. |
| Selfie age estimation | Applicant selfie image | Use this when you want to estimate age from the applicant’s face image. |
Recommended setup
For stronger verification, use ID document data when a document is available. Applicant-provided data can be useful when you need an earlier eligibility check, while selfie age estimation can add an additional signal when your flow includes a selfie step.
